Memorial website in the memory of your loved one
This memorial website was created in the memory of our father, Jonathan Edwards who was born in Michigan on November 09, 1933 and passed away on March 03, 2006 at the age of 72 in Amarillo, TX. We will keep his spirit close to our hearts forever

Jon was born in Detroit, Michigan to Jesse and Edna Edwards.  He graduated from U.C.L.A in 1959, then embarked upon a career as a computer programmer. That career spanned thirty five years, and led him to become the Director of Management Information Systems at Motorola, then National Semiconductor, and finally the State of California. Along the way he made homes and friends in Arizona, Switzerland, Germany, and California, before retiring to Amarillo Texas in 1993. Between his world travels, he gave of his time and was honored in 1997 by the Amarillo Independent School District as "district volunteer of the year" for his work mentoring school children at Mesa Verde Elementary, Travis Middle School, and Palo Duro High School.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Elsie.

In addition to his 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, his surviving family includes his brother Jesse of California, sister Betty of Michigan, daughter Deborah of Wyoming, son Eric and daughter in law Susan of Arizona, daughter Marci and son in law Bruce of Tennesee.

It has been three months since our Dad passed away and we want to thank each and every one who has taken the time to send pictures, offer condolences, or reconnect after years and years. All the messages have been very appreciated. We will share them at his ash spreading memorial service this July. We are hopeful that his memory will live on in his grandchilren and great grandchildren through your recollections and tributes. I hope to hear from more of you as 2006 moves ahead. God Bless.

Another thought for Jon   / Pat Thompson (Friend/Stockbroker)
I came to know Jon as his stockbroker for many years, and we remained friends when he left for Texas. His superb intelligence, compassion, and sense of humor made him one of a kind. The world is a lesser place
